About BedNest

Designs

What is an upholstered bedhead?

An upholstered bedhead is a headboard that has been covered in upholstery foam, wadding & upholstery fabric. All BedNest upholstered bedheads feature the selected fabric on the front, top and sides & calico on the reverse.

Are BedNest bedheads free-standing?

Yes - a free-standing bedhead stands behind your bed base and does not require any fittings, brackets or drilling. The weight of the bed helps to hold it in place. All BedNest bedheads stand on inset "invisible" plastic glides to protect the base. We offer a tailored cut-out service in the back of the frame on request to fit around your skirting board - skirting dimensions can be added at the checkout.

Do any BedNest products have removable covers?

The Willow and Hampton bedheads features a slip cover. The fabric cover is removable and can be taken off for cleaning, or to replace with a new choice of fabric. Depending on the fabric choice the cover can be washed or cleaned separately.

What products are in the BedNest range?

BedNest makes upholstered bedheads, beds, ottomans, chairs, valances & cushions.

Does BedNest make custom designs?

Most definitely we do – we call it our Bespoke BedNest range.

Whether you've seen something in a magazine or want to copy your best friend's bedhead - all we need is for you to complete the simple briefing form on the Bespoke BedNest page (don't forget to add a photo, scanned tear sheet or sketch) and we will contact you with a tailored quote.

I just don't know what would look best in my room - can you help?

Absolutely! We love helping our customers to create their own dream BedNest. All you need to do is contact us, fill out the form, attach a photo of your room and give us any ideas you have. We will contact you with some suggestions, photos & fabric swatches along with a tailored quote. Or you give us a call on 0466 466 585 to talk it through.

What are BedNest bedheads & beds made of?

All BedNest products are made from the highest quality materials including kiln dried plantation timber frames, upholstery seasting foam & upholstery fabric. Our upholsterers are all highly skilled & have many years experience in hand-crafting furniture.

Can I get wall-fixings for BedNest bedheads?

BedNest bedheads are all free-standing but wall-mounting bedheads are available on request. We use a split-batten wall-mount that involves drilling into your wall. Please contact us for details.

Does BedNest make kids beds?

Yes - we love to cater for little people, as they start out in a "big bed" right through to teens. All of our beds and bedheads are available in single, king single and double sizes and all heights can be adjusted to suit. We also have a specific kids range available here.

We also offer an upholstered trundle for use with all of our kids beds. This is effectively an upholstered box (no legs) which fits under the bed and can be slid out of occasional use with a mattress.

I saw a design I like in a magazine, can you make something similar?

We’d love to! Just complete the brief on the Bespoke BedNest page to let us know what you need and we will contact you with a tailored quote. Don’t forget to attach a scan of the pic!

Fabrics

Can I order a sample of one of your fabrics?

Please do! Have a look at our fabric range online and select up to 5 to add to your cart (no charge) & we'll mail them to you within a few days. We strongly recommend ordering fabric samples to view as the appearance of the fabric colours online can vary slightly depending your screen. BedNest cannot be held responsible for these variances.

I can't see a fabric I love in your range. Are there other options?

Absolutely - we want you to share our passion for fabric so send in your own, choose something else from Warwick or ask us to source something you're after from our network of international fabric suppliers.

I can't see a colour I love - are there more colours?

There are more than 15 colours in each of our fabrics, only 8 are featured on the website but you can see them all on Warwick Fabrics' website or contact us to find out more.

Can you describe each of the fabrics in your standard range?

  • Jarvis - This is a natural looking polyester fabric with a lovely matt texture - VERY easy to clean and care for
  • Vegas - Woven to look like a flat weave cotton this 100% man-made fabric has excellent durability & great colours
  • Cube - Boasting a luxurious softness, yet with a dry defined texture, Cube offers exceptional durability making it suitable for any space
  • Chambray - These neutral fabrics can be used to create a minimalist look about the modern home
  • Dolce - A velvet-look fabric with a beautiful texture and lustre
  • Husk - A linen blend with a stunning texture, great durability and a divine colour palette
  • Entice/Glamour - Both velvet looks. Entice is a dry handle matt velvet while Glamour has more traditional pile and shine.
  • Tilda - 100% pure fine weave, flat linen. Some slubs and marks are inherent in linen and just add to the beautiful texture of this refined look.
  • Augustus - A wool felt with a lovely marled finish

Can you help me find a fabric?

We’d love to! Just contact us or call us on 0466 466 585 and we’ll make it our mission to find a fabric you’ll love.

Which fabric suppliers do you work with?

We can source from virtually all Australian fabric houses and distributors of international collections - if in doubt, ask us!

Sizes & Measuring

What are the sizes & dimensions of BedNest products?

Please click here to read our detailed size guide to help you with the sizes and dimensions of all of our products.

The diamond buttoning on our Oxford and Raffles bedheads allow for a top of mattress height of 60cm. Please advise (at the checkout) if your mattress height is any higher so we can make an allowance.

Our bedheads are free-standing behind your bed base and does not require any fittings, brackets or drilling. The weight of the bed helps to hold it in place. All BedNest bedheads stand on inset "invisible" plastic glides to protect the base. We offer a tailored cut-out service in the back of the frame on request to fit around your skirting board - skirting dimensions can be added at the checkout.

All details added at the checkout will be confirmed with a follow-up email or phone call.

What is a 2 piece bed base?

A 2 piece bed base is an option for customers where delivery access may be tight. The base section of the bed is made in 2 pieces to help with delivery. The 2 pieces are easily joined once the bed is in situ. There is a visible join in the upholstered foot of the bed - this is very tailored and unobtrusive. There is no impact on the structural integrity. There is an additional cost for a 2 piece base.

Can I still have a bedhead if I have skirting boards in my bedroom?

Absolutely.

If your skirting board is less than 2.5cms deep then we don't generally need to do anything unless you specifically request it, the headboard will slot into place behind your bed. If your skirting board is more than 2.5cms deep just let us know by making a note in the special instructions box when you confirm your order. Simply measure the height and width of your skirting and we can make a tailored cut-out in the back of the frame to allow the bedhead to sit flush against the wall. These measurements can be added in the special instructions box at the checkout.

How high is "tall"?

Our "tall" bedheads and beds measure 145cms from the floor, if you want something lower then select our standard height of 120cms.

The exception is our single and king single bedheads and beds, the tall height for this size is 120cms and the standard height is 105cms. This works better proportionally with the smaller sizes.

Our Stockholm bed is also a standalone design which is a lower profile piece - the tall height is 120cms and the standard is 105cms. The photography on the Stockholm product page all shows the standard height.

Is there a trundle option to go with kids beds?

Yes there is - our trundle is effectively an upholstered open box with no legs for occasional use. Please see our gallery or testimonials for an image.

Are BedNest bedheads covered by a warranty?

All BedNest upholstered bedheads and other products are covered by a 12 month structural warranty.

All Warwick fabrics are also covered by a 12 month warranty provided they have been used in accordance with the guidelines on their website. Please note that many fabrics can have natural imperfections as part of their look and these do not constitute faults. All upholstered products will fade with exposure to natural sunlight so avoid direct sunlight as this fading is not covered under warranty. We use Warwick as our preferred supplier, any fabrics sourced by customers and not supplied by Warwick are used at the customer's risk and are not covered by this warranty. For tips on how to care for your upholstered bedhead, chair or storage box we recommend reading the care and advice section on the Warwick fabrics website.

Do BedNest beds come fully assembled?

Our beds come in 2 pieces - the bedhead and the bed base. The bed base is made as one piece with slats and side rails. We are able to make the base as 2 pieces which makes access easier.

Please check the dimensions of your room and all access points to make sure that the bedhead and base can be delivered easily. Please use our size guide to help with dimensions. If in doubt please contact us to ask our advice. We are unable to take responsibility for products which can't be delivered due to access issues.
